THE LONG TERM FUTURE OF WIRED

Hi! I'm Jonas and I think Wired is the best thing in Habbo. That is why I'm teaming up with Sulake to improve it! In this article I want to talk about the future of Wired and what we've already accomplished with the help of Johno for getting me started, and all other Sulake members that are involved!

THE OVERALL PROJECT

While the game and the creativity of the user base has evolved a lot in the last couple of years, myself and other Habbos in the community feel like Wired has not. It's time to catch up!

That is the main goal for myself and the devs I’m working with: we want to make Wired better, and allow many more types of games to be created in Habbo. Bringing Wired to Builders Club was a first step in doing this, the second step will be fixing & expanding Wired itself.

Not only will improving Wired make better experiences possible in Habbo, but also in Habbo X, where Wired will be one of the main ways in which players will create play-to-earn games and activities.

THE FUTURE FOR WIRED

In the short term, the work I’ve done has mostly revolved around fixing bugs and modifying existing Wired mechanics. But going forward, we plan for a lot more to happen to Wired!

Note that backwards compatibility will always be thought of when modifying existing systems. In the long term, a bigger Wired rework is coming that will ensure correct execution of all Wired systems. This means Wired will be 100% reliable and there will be no strange bugs that "sometimes" happen.

After the bug fixing and the rework, I hope that new concepts will be introduced in Wired which will greatly increase its potential.

WHAT'S BEEN DONE SO FAR

We’ve been planning this project for a long time now, but the actual coding started at the end of April this year. In that time, some things have already happened. Wired was brought to the BC warehouse, and a major design flaw in Wired was corrected that affected many boxes when Wired furni is moved inside a room.

WIRED TEAM

To test the upcoming changes and give feedback on them, with help from Alyx, I selected a team of global Wired experts who now have access to Sandbox. The team consists of:

I’d like to take this opportunity to emphasise that I’m not a full-time Sulake employee and am working with members of the Habbo team on a freelance basis, focusing on Wired.
